What interested you about becoming a photographer?
– I became early interested in photography during my high school years taking photographs, almost without any pretensions to art. I made my reputation as airline captain and - at the same time - studying black and white photography with dark room practice.

Where do you find inspiration to make your photographs?
– During an extended trip to Japan I discovered the powerfull of instant photography that allow a deliberate different composition of images, forceful of their gnomic poetry. Under such dual influence a sort of inner nature I made a fresh new start.

What do you most like to photograph?
– My work is rooted in the distinctly tradition of composed visions where arrangements try to capture the magical essence inhabiting and animating the world of appearances: photographing urban landscapes, street-life, still-life and portraiture.

Who are your favorite photographers?
– I like the most works of William Eggleston, Robert Frank, Francesca Woodman, Robert Mapplethorpe and Stephen Shore, to name just a few; but there are also many others - most of them perfect-stranger amateurs - whose work inspires me everyday. Menico Snider lives in Rome.
